Had a great day yesterday in Cardiff with a good friend, I had a Krispy Kreme doughnut with a latte as soon as we arrived! Strawberries and kreme.... Of course! Sadly with a wheat intolerance and no gluton free... She could only have a coffee...

This beautiful bed of yellow African Viotets... With a smattering of red ones!

Stunning displays in a small park in the middle of the shopping area...

We found a most wonderful shop, oddly, never attracted by any sort of taxidermy before... A beautiful hare drew us into the shop, lots of weird stuff, poor little critters adorned in tiaras or tutu's! Hats or part of furniture with only their heads or feet to see!! Ugh!... But!  There was an amazing array of weird wonderful things! From the 50's 60's 70's... A real treasure trove of interesting pieces, and briming with possibilities! I took one idea home with me... I started it as soon as I got in yesterday, need to finish it tomorrow! Work today!

I had to have a play with that photo above...

Mmmm...  s'okay...

Going through more of the books now, quickly deciding all the Rider Haggard books, un named, no attachment therefore, then I find one signed by my grandfather's god father... A gift, and now I have to keep this one, some very old and not held by binding are still interesting, and I have an idea who would appreciate these! And when she is back in this country will be posted to her, post haste... Hopefully she knows who I mean!

Babaa the elephant, looking sadly as though he is about to jump into the sink!! Given him a wash, after being packed away for nearly 30 years, was going to give him away... changed my mind now, no thrift shop would ever give him the love... So, its back in the trunk Babaa...

Today at work, a worker bee was stuck in doors! So I caught him gently and released him out into... gale force winds!! Poor thing, but better out than in!! Maybe?

So windy today here, the mail box was tapping constantly and Pippa was getting too anxious! Meanwhile I was sorting through papers, shredding them, keeping important bits, the rest going going gone!

Books tidied and sorted out, a lot of my moms to decide upon, find a loving home for, maybe keep the special ones... Two of which I will, they are of more value to me than anyone else I think, both printed in the 1700's... Watching Poldark on catch up, set in the 1700's it really made me appreciate the two books all the more... Who were the people who read them? Names, professions, how were they dressed... My ancestors I know, but on moms mother's side or her father's side... Going to check out my ancestry tree, see who was who around 1740... Nearly three hundred years... 300... Whichever way I write it, its amazing to me...

I'll go through the other books in the week, more history... More decisions to make...

Another funny story! The other day Franco and I saw the post man's immanent arrival, and to distract Pippa, we started singing, loudly, I then went to get our post... Nothing there but him, still outside the door!! So on opening saw he was writing delivery notes!! He'd knocked, but our singing had not only stopped the Pippster from hearing him, but us also!! Doh!!!

Before I say cheerio for today... Briefly checked out and William Randall was born about 1717 and at 13 years guessing this wasn't his, need to find his father!! Only back to the early 1800's on mom's father's side... the hunt goes on!

I think I should be in a drawing challenge this weekend, but lost the message to tell Veronica "I'm in!" Also can't remember what the title is...

So above... Today a café latte, and what appeared to be a little wriggly apple on the top, then I had a little play with the photo! All done a little too quickly as I suddenly realised the week had run away with me!

I have been very busy this week, at work, and out of it... I can't believe how much 'stuff' I am passing on, clearing cleansing, sorting, I have never done this before, things I have held onto for nearly all my life... Letters, broken things, junk, and then to add to my things, my moms things, although I really only kept her favourite things, which are exactly the same as my favourite things!!! So, bric a brac!!

I also bought 100 plastic sleeves which hold 8 photos, absurdly thinking these would accommodate my photo collection, so today, came back from work, spent a few hours getting rid of a headache and filled the 100 sleeves... I still have three quarters of the photos not in sleeves!! Guess this means I will have to buy two more lots!!! Thankfully the fourteen thousand photos taken digitally live in cyber space!

So funny the other day, I was sat here in on sofa the land line rang, I reached over the back of the sofa to the windowsill and the phone, knocked it off the sill, it dropped down behind the back of the sofa, I shouted "sorry, dropped the phone, hang on..." Reached down, really had trouble grabbing it, until finally managed to grip the phone... And couldn't get my arm back out!!!

I had to force my arm along between the sofa back and the window sills edge, until I reached the wall and could pull my arm up with the phone still in hand!!

No one there by then!! Unsurprisingly!! For a moment I thought I would have to just stay there trapped by my arm!!

Drawing challenge - Spring

Feel I may have flopped a bit today for the challenge, sorry Veronica....  Have been working and .... oh excuses excuses eh!

So, I bring dear friends Spring in life....

Coming forth among debris and destruction... a site brought down of old houses, the safety fence, the bottles and cans... but still the flowers bloom, in spite, or despite the surroundings... Life begins again as it should, signs of hope, signs of possibilities... And everywhere in our garden the same, the trees and plants all coming back into being from their long sleep...

I saw my first big beautiful bumble bee yesterday, a stranger coming into my life!

Photo taken today in Jersey Park, pretty Spring flowers and a stream, how idyllic!

It has been a very strange week so far... and its only Tuesday, I think!! Never know what day of the week it is anymore since I began working any of the seven days of the week or weeks on and weeks off!!

Yesterday, I didn't have to start work until 5pm... sounds good, free until 4.30pm eh!  But the clouds were low, damp drizzle and gray skies... and seem to waste the whole day doing something of nothing...  Then today, woke up at work... sleep in, that means! And was booked into an all day course, which I turned up at at 9am, for 9:30!  Waited and waited... no course, course cancelled, but me not told about it... I had gone back to the house after work, then left after half hour to drive to where the course should have been... so drove back to house, Pippa a second time excited to see me!!

I grabbed her and got her ready for a walk, she was ecstatic! Got out onto the street, crossed over to chat to neighbors when friend called "are you free for coffee... now?".... so took poor Pip back into the house and went for coffee, times two with friend...

Three hours later back in the house, back to Pippa, and this time we went out and stayed out!  Long walk down the road and up over the hills and far far away... and back through Jersey Park!  Trying to get some practice in before April 22nd and The Kings Walk! I'll never be able to do it otherwise, so much go out again tomorrow... repeat.... I must go out again tomorrow!!  Been up hours... Light through yonder window broke about 5:30am... don't care what it says on the net... the sky was light enough to come through the works staff room blind and wake me!  And yesterday was awake from 5:55am... Arh!!!

Decided the other week, randomly to give weaving a go!! LOL I know I know! Just call me Rapunzel! My hair is growing long enough soon for a small minion to climb!

So, with no loom hanging about the house, who does?  I used an old picture frame of my step-dads, and lo and beyond a loom took shape!  Not that Pip was especially bothered!  Tired from walk hopefully!

I have now completed about an inch, wahoo!  I found in my great grandmothers needlework basket a tool for passing the wool etc through and its great!  I need to find some different types of materials to use on this my practice piece!

Feel sure there is something missing I need to tell you, it will come to mind! Oh yes!  Went to Windsor last week, took some of my life with me and left it there, my step dads miniatures are, were, in need of restoration, I suppose they are.. 50 or 60 years old... veneer coming away, legs broken, discoloration, four years in Tony's garage getting mildewed, bent under weight of things on top of them... very sad, so very sadly I have passed them on, not the true value, as far as I am concerned, I feel it a direct criticism of my family hearing the words "poor quality" "basic" "not quite apprentice pieces" etc etc.... I would like to see these people make the miniatures, any miniatures...

Anyway, they will be duly restored, back to they're former glory, and sold with profit of course, but whats important is that they will be on display, loved, appreciated by many, used.... and beautiful for the world to see... It still hurt though, to lose them...

And being in Windsor where mom and I had been many a time, suddenly when we got there I thought for a minute I couldn't leave anything we had brought with us!  We looked like lookie lookie people, dragging our cases along LOL... or just tourists in Windsor I guess...

Barry South Wales

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, no work either... so I took myself off early to Ikea in Cardiff, so early the coffee shop wasn't yet open... so 'did' the top floor first... all the furniture sections, walking in and out of each scene, took photos for ideas, was really good... And, before going down to the extras section!  Stopped for coffee and cake... very yummy!!!!  And a bit of internet time :-/ using the Ikea internet of course, registered with my Ikea card! lol, not sure if it was my Spanish or English one, but it worked either way!  Forgot I had it in my purse buying the coffee, would it have made any difference?

After Ikea off I went to Barry, lived here in Wales now for three years and not yet been, back to Barry!  Last there in 1987, when the boys were 7 and 5, and mom and I took them to the Butlins or Pontins that was there then... nothing now, and that area is out of bounds!

But I parked easily enough in a two hour spot, and walked down onto the beach, beautiful beach it is too!  Looking back towards the restaurant they used on Gavin and Stacy, British comedy series...

I got sad there too of course, knowing that mom had been with me last time I was here, but going there because she had in the first place... I needed to be where mom has been right now, can't tomorrow... on the fifth year anniversary of her passing, working till four, but that's probably a good thing... I think?

Mom's never been here, where we are now, and Barry is the nearest place!  Although we're going to Windsor on Thursday... to finally sort some more of moms things... so that will be a very emotional day, been there so many times with mom, and now taking some of her things with us and will feel very final...

Back to yesterday!!!  Was windy there on the beach, wonderfully blustery... I picked up a couple of random sea shells and two white feathers that appeared before my eyes...

Then I phoned Tony and burst into tears!!  Well, it had to happen... much as it is now as I write, and tomorrow I will be a wreck... I haven't read back to my Blog of those last few days yet, but I know I will right after I post this, I might as well be hitting myself with a stick or banging my head against a wall right?  But I can't stop myself.

My shadow... my best beloved parker coat making me look more like a weeble from the 1970's!

Vein...Drawing Challenge

Very sudden decision to add myself to Veronica's  Drawing challenge of  'Vein' as the subject...

I actually made this photo art a month or so ago... using several different programs on my phone and lap top... The original item in this photo art is the white part... it was... believe it or not...

Actually.... I will also add the original photo I took!

It was a piece of pith!  And very vein-like in appearance don't you think...  It was from the satsuma orange I was eating at the time, which fell by itself onto my Kindle Fire on my lap... as you can see above!

And from there birthed a new piece of art...

My beautiful grand daughter, and she really really is, this Nana is so proud... This love I never knew, I've said it before I will say it again, no one can explain how very different this grand parents love is, so totally different, so even more unconditional, if this is possible...

Now some heavy talk....  This afternoon had a bit of a debate about this country with a friend; various options that could happen in the future if the wrong people get into power... about how millions of people have moved here to get a better life... Just as, millions of people born here have left, to better themselves in other countries around the world...  To work - to try to work, to retire, to vacation... to get away from bad things... unfortunately some people want to bring they're way of living with them in a more obvious way than others, some of which seems negative.  Then others, who gently slide into a new way of life, of living, taking on the country they wish to aspire to... when in Rome as 'they' say!  And proud to becoming British.

When I returned here from living in Spain, by the way, as an immigrant, as I was not born here, or even in Europe... I was entitled to nothing, nada!  As I had not worked here in the last two years, I had no entitlement, and that goes for other people too, I'm sure they couldn't have just picked on me!

I had paid into the British system since I was 15, contributed to a pension I will one day receive, god willing, I have never claimed jobs seekers allowance... I was probably unemployed a couple of times and didn't even think of doing so...

Franco works with many people who have chosen to come to this country to work, to live, to expand they're lives, for whatever reasons, most of these people didn't even know when they came that they could claim job seekers allowance, as coming from within Europe and being born Europeans they were entitled to, just as a British person you can move to Spain for instance and claim six months unemployment benefit, and you get much much more than you would here!  And that it seems is also true of many other European countries, they're benefits are much greater than that here, and of course they're cost of living is a lot less... Franco has asked many of his colleagues if they left work would they claim money here and none of them could understand why they would, when in their countries they would get more and be home too!

We talked of the Old British Empire and where it went, and whom it took over as its own! Colonizing as it went! We talked of the British around the world and how those countries think of them... I remember how the people in the bar we were having coffee outside one morning, cheered and clapped very loudly, when they saw an Englishman being arrested and hauled away by local police! Shouting "Inglés, Inglés, muy bien!!"

We went on to talk about huge amounts of excess oil now in the US and the power stations having to close there, fracking is supplying the country with power now...

Fracking here is on hold in some places, mini earthquakes, undermining peoples homes, no pun intended!  Wind farms are growing and supplying many many people...

We talked about computers then... they control everything, in some homes, many homes already, the heating systems, the alarms, security, televisions.... Our cars, machinery... never mind the computers and mobile phones etc... Our lives are run and controlled by computers...

And, if the whole lot blows!!! What then, wipe out! Totally...

And my memory of this mornings car park rage, followed by road rage... How small these things, how small so many of the things we take on board every day and hold on to for hours!!... and what are they nothing, why do we still complain about things that are not worth a second thought, why hang on... they are nothing, we should just shrug and say, "Whatever!" and move on...

And all this on Shrove Tuesday! Pancakes anyone?  Okay, its not about pancakes really is it! Its about giving up something? Food, a bad habit?? My religious instruction seems to be lost somewhere in the dark recesses of school fog!  But today is supposed to be the day we stuff ourselves full of something we are giving up!  So I am thinking as I am giving up chocolate for March, on behalf of the British Heart Foundation... maybe I will stop eating chocolate tomorrow, forty days... will that take me through to the end of March?  Let me look.... bare with! Mmmmm two days over, but I suppose if I can go 40 days without chocolate I can do 42! Shall I??? Heck hadn't thought about it, but if I take all of the above heavy duty conversation to mind, it really is only chocolate, and if I can't go without chocolate for 42 days, well its very sad.... My mind is made up, whats left of the huge box of chocolates I have here I will chuck down my face as much as I can today, I have a few hours left, then that's it!  I will take photos of chocolate instead!

Sycamore seed pod

On one of the steps going up to the back garden just now... life beginning... a tiny green shoot, making its way from the seed of a tree...

A seed pod from a Sycamore tree further up the garden... I have temporarily planted it near those steps... It wouldn't last long on the steps with Pipster up and down a hundred times a day forsure!

And it was nice coming home and seeing this new life... Firstly I  dropped some things off in town... parking right in the heart where its 'pedestrians only' after 10;30am... exceptions excluded!  I had gathered a lot of things, that I don't need any longer, and someone else can now make a new home for them, I hope, already one item is calling back to me from the store!! Oh no!!! I have had that little ornament for longer than my boys!!! But I am trying to de-clutter, I feel choked by all the stuff I have accumulated over the years, and I get too attached to each and every one of them, that's why the sooner I can also pass on my mom's things the better, except certain items of course!!!

I want to travel lighter from now on!

From town, I took the M4 off to Fforestfach, its such a beautiful sunny day, wall to wall blue skies and the sun feels warm to the skin... lovely!

So I drove there and sat inside [tables in the shade!], and had a wonderful Chai Latte in Costa!  I had walked around Home Sense... One of my favorite stores in the UK!  It is very difficult not to buy something every single time I go in!!  So I shop on ideas instead!  And today I got plenty of them!!

Things for my new Pinterest board on Plants!  And I saw somewhere on the net an idea using magazines tightly rolled up in small pieces used to make frames, boxes, art and decor... they had some there!!! Who saw what first!!  I always want to shout out "I'll have one of everything in assorted colors please!"

In Costa the barista was very happy! In fact she was extra happy and singing a song 'Pure Imagination' [from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory], to everyone she served!!  I thought I would come away singing it... I did! :-)  Not a bad song to get stuck with!

Now back... Third day off, back tomorrow! Feels like such a long time!  Especially as I have to fit in a full weeks hours starting from Wednesday afternoon ending on Saturday!

Aqua - Mystical Magic!

Veronica Roth's challenge in the name of Aqua!

noun, plural aquae
 [ak-wee, ah-kwee] (Show IPA),
aquas.

1.
Chiefly Pharmacology.
  1. water.
  2. a liquid.
  3. a solution, especially in water.

So for me, for you, its photograph art!

Well, this was a toughie for me this week, started a new job on Sunday, a twenty nine hour a week rota should be the norm, but you know how it is, and this week, my first, was a forty hour week plus a sleep in! Panic started setting in yesterday, all I could think was Aqua... with no answer forthcoming, my 'Toast' was almost waiting for me to make it happen... but with new job, new location, new routines to learn, it was blankety blank!

So today, finished work at three and we went off to Porthcawl, a beautiful seaside town here on the south coast of Wales... I took a few photos... and earlier at work, seeing a strange item on the staff room dresser, which had to photographed by myself as I thought it looked strangely camel like!!!

Back we came, stomachs full of fish and chips bought at the fair ground!  And I started playing with a couple of different systems on my lap top and above is the result...

So what do we have!? A giant camel sea monster afloat off the Welsh coast! Sea monster... and plenty of the beautiful aqua off the Welsh coast...

Apologies! LOL But I couldn't just do nothing :-/

Above was what faced us on the road back from Nottingham... M50 had been closed and we chose the road less driven!!! Not intentionally... and very glad the snow stopped at the kerbside and not on the road itself!

Beautiful sunset last night over Swansea, preceding this beautifully sunny day today!  Yesterday I started a new job... This is the third job I have started since June of last year by the by!

Same industry, a support worker, I was this time last year working locally, only a couple of times a week sleeping-in... I moved onto live in, on a two weeks on and two weeks off basis, nearby to Windsor;  Then onto live in wherever the need was, and over four months this only meant three weeks in Liverpool area and just over two in Cheltenham area...  My fault to some extent, not wanting to work over Christmas as our beautiful little grand daughter was due then, and also not wanting to be away for a few weeks, back for a few days and off again, I wanted to have a week or two here!!  So my next placement would have been in March... but... I applied for a couple of jobs nearby, exactly as I was a year ago :-) So, I went for an interview last Monday, a week today!  And started yesterday, I cancelled an interview I had for this morning, similar position, working as a PA support worker, but this would have only been a few hours a week...

Feast or famine... On our way up to see family in Nottingham on Friday got another call about another position!! He said to contact him if I wanted to at any time for a job with them... and then!!!! LOL a friend offered me a live in, week on week off later in the evening, but too far... Middlesborough is, with a half hour break, about six hours drive, 24hrs of driving over the course of a month... I can't, just can't!!!

But was feeling very happy for all the offers nonetheless!!! LOL

Today is a day off!! And making Chelsea buns... or cinnamon rolls as I am not in Chelsea??? Is it a trades description thing?  Wish you could smell them though!!

Grow your Blog 2015

Am I too late! Better late than never, and I am normally never late for anything... but haven't switched on for a few days... visited migraine city!

So here is me!

Born in Los Angeles... I'm sure it wasn't black and white in those days was it really?

At least I was in full color by the time I was one!!

Mom and I traveled to England when I was just under two, and there we stayed.... until I was... older! When I moved to Spain, and lived there quite contentedly until only three years ago, when we ran out of work... and ran out of Spain, unfortunately, but only for a while, I promise, my heart is still there, and my home, which we visit as often as possible... America is still also my home!  I am American born and proud of it, despite being so young when I left, a huge amount of my family are there and every single day I wish to be in their arms, to have a Christmas with them, a Thanksgiving... So much I have missed over the years with the huge cavern of the Atlantic in between, I have only ever seen my brother three times... three times!! Can you believe it, and probably will only ever see him another three times? Or less even, its a huge void in my life...

Above and below shots taken at the church in our village in Spain, not far from our home...

The view above is just a little higher than the one we have from our terrace...

And finally views of here in Wales, where we live... for now...

Purloined this photo, changed the position of the jetty, added string of light's and Pinned it! This is now the jetty at my cabin, by the lake... Hey, dreams they do come true, I know this for sure...

Wishing very much this is where I am today...

It's my mom's birthday, I think this cabin of mine first took shape when I sat daily with my mom during her last week's, days... moment's... I tried to take my mom to places she had been, talking about Paris from her 'bucket list, our trips to Italy, back home in the states, and Spain...

I talked of strange dreams she had had and told me off; one such dream of a handsome man who she met on the fire escape outside her apartment window in New York, consistently over the years, and as the years passed both her and he aged... I like to think they are both young again now...

I also spoke of this cabin, I drew a mental picture of a home, my home, for mom, describing as if real... I took us there... down a quiet road, a turn, a gate, a drive through woods, there the cabin, the lake, a single level white painted cabin, up a small wide stairway, a complete wraparound porch, I told her there were two beautiful old rocking chairs near the front door, I asked her to sit in one and wait for me...

I imagined it for no reason at all in New England, Maine... lol, I know strange!?!  But last year going through things of moms I hadn't seen, I came across letters photos, books other memorabilia... my mom had vacationed with her parents at another families home in... Bar Harbor, Maine!  Her last trip would have been when she was eight, or even seven, her father died when she was nearly nine, and by nine taken to England 'to be schooled'...  So maybe she doesn't, didn't even really remember much of where she had been, she never spoke of holidays with this family they knew...

I learnt recently that the Incas belief of past, present and future was very different from ours, that all times are now, that memories of those gone and to come are with us, at all times... Bit 'out there' I realise, but is this why we know things, feel things about places we have never been to, a connection?

Coney Island New York...

I have just finished watching the movie Love Never Dies, had to watch in two halves, being away working as I am and time limited...

It is a wonderful ending to The Phantom of the Opera, mom and I saw whilst fulfilling her bucket list... she had wanted to see this, especially as it is based in Coney Island, New York, her and my dad's playground as a young courting couple... it was opened on stage in mom's final weeks
...

And being at Coney Island in June, leaving a scattering of my mom there... it would have been mom's birthday on Saturday, the 24th...  I shall be driving back to Wales, thankfully not the longest of journeys.

So feeling sad and little girl lost, still wishing I could get just one more day, one hour... one more moment in time, speak once more.

I have worked for people who speak of regrets, wishing they had said something different, done something differently, they remember bad things said, or actions they feel they should not have taken, some of them are funny things, some just life! And I tell them, if you had spoken something differently than what you did, or done something differently, you would still be thinking or saying the same thing, that you could have lived, spoken, or acted differently...

When people die it seems regrets will always be there, guilts, the anger at loss, the missed chances maybe we always think we have time for...

We have no time ahead, the time is now...

Very difficult Blogging from my phone or Kindle! Internet here keeps dropping, both choose words that are not of my choosing! My rushed writing at times when I can proves very random and oddly thought out! Or is that just normal for me!?! Yes! But you see here on the Kindle, if screen blanks out page has to reload, words are lost, my train of thought gone...

About the Hydrangea above... the plant is only small and hedge bound, in previous couple of years I must have cut back beneath the hedge, unaware this was even a plant, so last spring, working away as I am now, the plant got a chance to bloom this year! Yeah!  There were only three or four flower heads, and even now, long after blooming there is something special about its beauty...

Above is Porthcawl this Christmas past...

I laughed when looking back at my Blog, had to change so many typos, due to spell check! And mainly because of the promised 'foot' note!!!

Bet no one even noticed it was missing huh!?!

I have been forgetting to mention my broken toe, again... still! Had an x-ray, it's healing slowly, where I had placed it back into a straighter position (!!!), It's a bit on edge, so healed on the left side, lots of calcification there built up, and on the right, unheralded! Doctor in hospital said it will take about a year, no high heels! Hmmmm! Okay, easy to accomplish for me these days! And the odd on going pain and ache, the redness on my toe and side of foot just near it when my foot is wet or cold or hot!??? Some sort of arthritis caused by broken bones, which will never go!

End of footnote!

Couple of very strange statements here, and 'foot' note' ha ha!

Having read a piece of information about our memories today, reasons why we forget, the age our brains start to forget, 20, by the way! Chemical or drug related reasons, I cane across this...

*A super autobiographical memory*

"They can recall the details of what they were wearing on a particular day 20 years ago!"  This is me, add that to the problem I have with noises that drive me mad, especially eating noises, or other little repetitive noises, Misophonia!

Yes, even I agree I have some very strange foybles!

And there will be a strange Blog post here on Saturday, thanks to a challenge sent out by a fellow Blogger, amazing artist... friend, Veronica...

So Warning alert!

And now, as I tidy up, and await time to 'clock' off from work duties... It's eleven and feeling too pooped to pop, (my mom's quote!). Been awake and working since seven... Blah!

Had been enquiring of the universe something, and the universe answered today! So decisions to make, and thoughts of 'be careful what you wish for' flutter through my mind...

Me and my grand daughter... The very most beautiful baby girl in the world, I already loved her unconditionally before she was born, and now Cassie is here, I love her even more if this is possible. Proud to be her Nana...

And exceptionally proud of my son and his girlfriend :-)
